UPDATE: Uzbekistan in talks on multilateral gas deal with Russia

TASHKENT, Jan 26 (PRIME) -- Uzbekistan is negotiating a multilateral agreement on gas with Russia, the work is profitable for the country’s national interests, Vice Chairman of Uzbekistan’s legislative chamber Alisher Kadyrov said on Thursday.
“We will present the information in detail later, when the multilateral agreement is elaborated,” he said.
Earlier this week, Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry said that it had signed a roadmap, envisaging transit of Russian gas via the Central Asia–Center gas pipeline, with Russian gas giant Gazprom.
kun.uz web portal reported on Thursday citing the roadmap on cooperation in the gas sphere that Uzbekistan hopes to begin gas imports from Russia from March 1.
“According to the deal, imports of natural gas from Russia to Uzbekistan are planned to start from March, 2023,” the portal reported.
